Jagson to start direct flight to Shimla, Manali

Shimla: For air traffic strapped Himachal Pradesh, some good news is in store. Jagson Airlines will start a new flight from Delhi to Kullu and Shimla from February.

Jagosn CEO Koustav Dhar was quoted in the media saying that the company will operate a daily flight between Delhi – Kullu – Shimla – Delhi from February 15, 2011. He said the company would ply an 80 seater plane on this route.

He said the fares offered will be very competitive and the airfare will be 30% lower than the existing Kingfisher fare.

Presently Kingfisher is the only airline operating a regular flight between Delhi – Kullu and Delhi – Shimla. National carrier Indian Airlines operates flights four days in a week depending on the flight load. There is no flight in the state between Shimla and Kullu.

Travel industry in Himachal Pradesh is hoping that operation of bigger aircrafts will bring down the fares since fares are very high in these sector because of operations of smaller aircrafts.
