An ideal homestay near Manali, Tree House and Cottages have an unique USP. One of the cottage is atop an oak tree surrounded by orchards and green fields. This quaint cottage is located at Katrain, 19 km before Manali on the main National Highway leading to Manali. The cottage offers a great view of the snow-clad mountains at a distance and the lovely apple, peach, plum and walnut orchard right below from the glass windows.

The homestay is a joint effort of the Upadhaya family. While senior Mr. Upadhaya is the one who designed the cottages, his two sons look after the running of the homestay and the ladies take care of the kitchen. Food served is only vegetarian and most of the vegetables are home grown in the farm. The family also owns the cows thus offering a home and farm stay experience.

There are in total three cottages. The most in demand is the one perched on the oak tree. It has a single room with double bed and an attached bath. Room is decently furnished with all modern amenities and the bath has a hot water geyser and a western style toilet. The room has big window panes offering 180 degrees view of the valley and the mountains.

The other two cottages have three bed room each. Rooms can be hired separately. Each cottage has a separate kitchen thus offering an option of self cooking. All rooms have seprate baths.

The tree house cottage is priced at Rs. 1600/ in season and the rooms in other cottages can be hired for Rs. 1000/-. During off season, the prices are negotiable and one can expect an discount of 30-40%.

The attention for comfort, warmth and food is top priority when staying at the tree house cottages. The views are breathtaking in every direction. The traditional rural life is endearing. It is the perfect place to stay, away from the bustling Manali and yet easy by car / bus to get to all the tourist attractions.

How to reach:

If traveling by bus from Delhi / Chandigarh, make sure to get down at Katrain bus stop. Katrain is located 19 km before Manali on NH21. It takes minimum 20 minutes to reach Manali. Buses and taxis are available from Katrain all day long. While coming from Kullu, take a left turn from the Katrain bazaar and further 300 meter is the main gate of the home stay.
